SUMMER READING PROGRAMS AT HENRICO COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARIES
Don't forget that registration for the Henrico County Public Libraries Summer Reading Programs begin June 7. Last summer Twin Hickory Elementary student participation actually went down! The library has challenged us to try to achieve 150 students participating in the reading program this summer - so remember to register your students (at the library or from the library website) and keep track of books finished this summer for prizes like restaurant coupons and raffle prizes!

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON VA PTA PROPOSED LEGISLATION PROGRAM
The Virginia PTA's Preliminary Proposed Legislation Program (PLP) for 2011 will be reviewed at a hearing on Saturday, May 15, at 2:00pm at the Holiday Inn - Richmond Airport. Details and further contact information can be found in the attached document:

COUNTY STRATEGIC PLANNING MEMBERS NEEDED!
The county Board of Education is in need of school and community members who are willing to participate on an action team to build their strategic plan. Action teams need teachers, support staff, administrators, parents, and community members to participate. The link to the startegic planning website here will explain the role of action teams and provide a place for you to sign-up.

SOL Resources
As we are moving toward the SOL testing period, we wanted to make parents aware that there is a variety of SOL information including sample SOL test questions available on the Virginia Department of Education website. There is information for all grade levels, and sample tests beginning with Grade 3. Parents are encouraged to review the information and use the samples as great practice with their students. Proposed changes to your PTA Bylaws
As required by the Virginia State PTA, the governing bylaws of your PTA are undergoing a regularly scheduled revision. The new proposed set of bylaws are noted below and will be presented for acceptance at a future general membership meeting. Please see any PTA officer if you have any questions or concerns about these changes.
