The Twin Hickory PTA has had an excellent financial year. We have taken in $42,703 and spent $36,408 to date. By the end of the year I project what we take in and what we spent will essentially be balanced. We currently have $21,533 in cash available, and project to have around $15,185 to start next year’s budget, as compared to starting with $15,216 this year.

The PTA board will be finalizing and voting on the 2010-2011 budget this spring. Please look at our PTA website to view this budget along with this year’s totals. Click here to access the details. The final general membership vote will not be until our first meeting of the new school year since it can’t occur until the books have been audited this summer. Any comments or suggestions, however, would be appreciated now.

Some of the plans we hope to include in 2010-2011:
· $1,000 for a “cow” cart – a portable laptop computer lab station that can go to your child’s classroom.
· $2,000 to continue to improve our school grounds.
· $3,500 for a new writing program. This would include materials and teacher training at all grade levels and provide a more cohesive approach to teaching the skill of writing.
· $3,700 for a general school project fund available at teacher request.
· We will continue to provide $100 for each classroom teacher to supply their room.
· $2,000 for classroom publications for each child in grades K-2.
· $1,800 for assignment books most grades and $650 for purple folders for each child.
· $1,500 for Arts in Education performances at school.
· $1,000 for our science lab used by all grades.
· We will also continue to publish our student directory, provide graduation for 5th graders, provide teacher appreciation meals, and support other clubs and programs.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,
